Somazone stickers
A Bright Light in a Dark Place
Somazone was developed by Australian young people to help their peers answer the toughest questions of their lives, questions they’re too afraid to ask about sex, drugs, relationships, and mental health.
Young people can submit anonymous questions to the site and within a week the answers, provided by a network of health professionals, are posted to the site for everyone to read. The many, many Q&As have created a massive database of non-judgmental, accurate advice for young people in their teens and twenties.
While some questions are as innocent as “How do you kiss?”, others are so confronting and sad that you want to reach into your computer and rescue the confused, ill, or abused kid that submitted it.
Making the Connection
Courtney managed the Somazone initiative for a few years, so this was a project close to our hearts from the start. We used taglines that call out to young people to share their stories and inform them that Somazone is the real deal, not some political agenda for kids who only know how to “just say no.”
At the time these were developed, Australian cities were filled with city alleys featuring some of the world’s most talented stencil artists. These stickers were influenced by these street galleries.
