About the Festival
One of the many fantastic parts of this 17-day summer festival is that they didn’t forget about families.
Yeah, sure, many of us were very cool twentysomethings who spent weekends attending gallery openings and indie rock shows—but that was 10 or 20 years ago. Now we’ve got kids and it takes much more effort to make the time, get a babysitter, and stand for four hours in a smoky bar with sticky carpet. We still do it, but it’s not easy.
And just because we have kids doesn’t mean we’re content to stay home and watch “Dancing with the Stars.” We want arts and culture as much as we ever did—maybe even more. So, thank goodness for a free arts festival with butterflies being born in the “Buggy Bog” and giant interactive sculptures in “Tinker’s Cove.”
And when the little punks are finally tired out, we can shuffle off to watch Grand Buffet and hopefully they’ll take a nap.
Doing our Part
With a little guy of our own, we were thrilled to play a role in getting the word out about the Family Festival. With a great brief from our collaborator at the festival, we developed a treasure map concept with custom illustrations that winds it’s way through the many delights that await those of us with kids.
