Contemporary Craft

Editorial design

Ahead of an ambitious campaign to support the relocation of the 50-year-old organization to a custom-built space, we designed a book to cement the importance of their mission, and illustrate the work they’ve done to date, in making art accessible through craft.

Not a campaign prospectus, not an annual report, and, certainly, not a brochure, this publication marks a moment in time for Contemporary Craft: they are an established and respected organization ready to take the next step.

In the midst of an era enamored with AI-generated everything, this book is packed with the evidence of why craft endures. The foil-stamped double cover announces, “Craft is…” then opens to reveal a rich history of making, curating, and exhibiting craft. And in case you missed the point, the book starts and ends with beautiful delicate, lacey paper that could only be made by hands, not machine.

We used a little bit of magic for the invitation to the organization’s annual celebration evening themed “Expect the Unexpected.”

Another project

Expanding the existing visual identity, we developed a series of seasonal program brochures as well as a comprehensive guide to their city’s public art.
